J. Benedict Warren '48My wife and I are supposedly retired here in Morelia, Mexico, although we seem to be busier than ever. Pat teaches Church History at the Universidad Michoacana, the state university. I am involved in an editorial project with the Colegio de Michoacán in Zamora, about two and a half hours away. We are working primarily with the compositions of a French Franciscan, Maturino Gilberti, who published several religious works in the local native language, Tarascan, during the middle years of the sixteenth century. I am also called on to give an occasional course there. We have been invited to accompany a camera crew to Spain in October to make a
documentary on the first bishop of this area, Vasco de Quiroga, bishop
1539-1565. I wrote my doctoral dissertation on his work, and my three most
recent items have been associated with his career. He has been proposed for
beatification. |
